The University of Manchester (UOM) and Peking University (PKU)is excitingly working together to establish the Joint Research and Training Programme to promote research cooperation and development between the two universities.UOM PhD candidates can nowapply for a 12 to 24 month period of further academic research at Peking University by academic year, without the award of a PKU academic degreeor taking any courses.The most recent enrollment time is September 2024.

UOM gladly offers up to 20 places each year for students to apply for the Programme.UOM PhD candidates who are admitted to the Programme shall be exempted from PKU tuition fees. After application, candidates will also be offered a suitable amount of scientific research funds and stipend for a smooth and rewarding time at PKU, Beijing, China.

The areas of joint research co-operation between PKU and UOM will focus on various areas,including but not limited to chemistry, physics, environmental science, net zero, climate change and basic medicineand other relevant science and engineering disciplines.

The materials department of Peking University was established in 2005 and now has been ranked top 1.4‱ of ESI, the 6th of US News, the 15th of QS by subject in the world. The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) emphasizes research for subjects in Energy Materials, Optoelectronic Materials, Biomaterials, Composite Materials, and Emerging Materials. UOM PhD candidatesmay now look for websites and professor info on the website to locate the MSE supervisor of attraction: https://www.mse.pku.edu.cn/en/index.htm. After research of relevant information, they can nowsend an INTENTION FORM(attached)to the relevant UOM School or Department with the approval of their supervisors.

At the end of the study period, a UOM Programme Student is required to submit a programme evaluation report for assessment. Outstanding students will be issued study certificates from PKU.
