From March 8 to 12, 2025, a delegation of engineering students from the University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia, visited Peking University to promote academic exchange and global learning.. During the visit, the delegation participated in activities including academic discussion, cultural exchanges, laboratory tours, and corporate visits. The event was hosted by the School of Materials Science and Engineering (PKU), with strong support from relevant departments of the university.

On the afternoon of March 8, the delegation arrived at the Yanyuan Campus of Peking University and first attended a welcome ceremony held in Room 137, Integrated Scientific Research Building. Lei Ting, Associate Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (PKU), and Zhao Xiaoxu, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, warmly welcomed the delegation. They introduced Peking University’s academic traditions, research strengths, and international collaboration initiatives. Members of the delegation from the University of Malaya also expressed their anticipation and interest in the visit, hoping to gain deeper insights into China’s higher education and research systems through this opportunity.

Afterwards, the delegation toured various landmarks of Peking University, including the MuseumofPeking University History, and the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology. Through the visits, gained valuable insights into PKU’s hundred-year legacy, cultural richness, and scholarly excellence.

On March 10, the delegation visited the laboratories of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (PKU), where they examined cutting-edge research equipment and received briefings on the latest advances in materials science. During the lab tour, faculty and students from Peking University provided detailed introductions to various research areas, including polymer materials, advanced batteries, metallic materials, and magnetic materials.

In the afternoon, the delegation also attended several relevant lectures, including “Polymer Materials Science and Engineering”, “Advanced Battery Materials and Devices”, “Metal Materials Science and Engineering”, and “Magnetic Materials”. Some of these courses were conducted in English, offering the UM students an immersive academic experience.
On March 11, the delegation visited two well-known Chinese technology enterprises: Beijing Oriental Yuhong Waterproof Technology Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as “Oriental Yuhong”) and BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as “BOE”). These visits provided an inside look into the operations, innovations, and strategic positioning of leading Chinese tech companies. Company representatives introduced their core technologies, international collaborations, and discussed potential opportunities for future research cooperation with the visiting faculty and students.

That evening, a Cultural Night and Closing Ceremony was held at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of Peking University. The event featured cultural exchanges, student reflections, and the exchange of souvenirs, further cementing the bond between the two universities’ communities.

This visit not only deepened the academic ties between Peking University and the University of Malaya, but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific research, and cultural exchange. Looking ahead, both universities will continue to promote academic exchanges and joint research, advancing the development of international education and making meaningful contributions to the advancement of science worldwide.
