On December 6, 2024, the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Peking University (hereinafter referred to as “the School”) organized a company visit to BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (referred to as “BOE”). Led by Researcher Dou Jinhua from the School and Mr. Liu Xuchen from the Office of Academic Affairs, 30 undergraduate students majoring in materials science visited BOE to gain deeper insights into the the company's innovations in display technology and corporate culture, as well as to enhance their awareness and understanding of the development trends in electronic materials.

Through the introduction by the staff, the students learned that BOE was founded in April 1993 and is a leading innovator in the IoT industry providing intelligent terminal products and professional services for information interaction and human health. With years of exploration and practice, the company has developed a business structure centered on semiconductor displays, complemented by IoT innovation, sensors and solutions, MLED, and the integrated development of smart healthcare and engineering, forming a ‘1+4+N+ecosystem’ business architecture, with its products widely applied across multiple fields.

Subsequently, the students visited the technology innovation exhibition area and experienced BOE’s latest display technology achievements. The 8K display screen, with its unparalleled clarity and exceptional excellent color accuracy reproduction, provided the students with an immersive visual experience. The flexible OLED screen, with its bendable and foldable characteristics, opened up new possibilities for the design of portable electronic devices. The naked-eye 3D technology, leveraging grating technology, enabled 3D effects to be enjoyed without the need for glasses.
During the interactive session, the staff introduced BOE’s innovative culture, team spirit, and relentless pursuit of technological breakthroughs. The students stated that this visit not only provided them with a valuable learning opportunity but also offered a window into the cutting-edge of the industry. By closely engaging with BOE’s latest achievements in display technology, they gained a deeper understanding of how these technologies are driving the process of digital transformation. At the same time, this visit allowed them to feel the charm of working in a tech company, inspiring them with a newfound enthusiasm for their future careers.

Looking ahead, the School will continue to strengthen its collaboration with enterprises in talent cultivation, striving to nurture more outstanding talents with innovative spirit and practical abilities. The School also looks forward to working alongside enterprises to jointly promote technological innovation and illuminate the future of technology.
