To promote technological innovation and intelligent development in the new materials industry, as well as to strengthen application-driven development and industrial chain integration, the “2024 Bajiaowan Innovation Conference” was held from August 14 to 16 at the Bajiaowan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Huang-Bo Sea New Area of Yantai City. The conference was hosted by Peking University and the Yantai Municipal Government, organized by Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. along with School of Materials Science and Engineering (PKU), and co-organized by the Yantai Huang-Bo Sea New Area Administrative Committee, Yantai Science and Technology Bureau, Yantai Association for Science and Technology, and the Medical Polymer Products Branch of the China Association for Medical Devices Industry. The conference gathered over 250 experts and scholars from nearly 100 institutions across the country, delivering keynote and thematic presentations. With close to 1,000 attendees, participants discussed cutting-edge research findings and project developments, providing fresh insights into the sustainable and high-quality advancement of the biomaterials industry.


The Conference
Themed "Innovative Biomaterials Empower a Green Future," the conference delved deeply into the latest development trends and technical challenges in biomaterials, artificial intelligence, and new energy materials. It provided forward-looking insights to drive the orevolution in the new materials industry. Among the distinguished keynote speakers were Liu Changsheng, Chen Xuesi, and Zhang Jin, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Hua Weiqi, Executive Vice President of Wanhua Chemical Group; Tian Yonghong, Dean of the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School; and Huang Yunhui, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Liu Changsheng, Chen Xuesi, Zhang Jin, Hua Weiqi, Tian Yonghong, and Huang Yunhui delivered keynote speeches at the conference.
The conference featured nine thematic sub-forums, covering a wide range of topics, such as Advanced Biomedical Metal Materials, Advanced Biomedical Inorganic Non-metallic Materials, Advanced Biomedical Polymer and Supramolecular Materials, Cutting-edge Pharmaceutical Polymers and Innovative Carrier Technologies, Advanced Medical Materials Manufacturing and Future Industrial Development, Advanced Medical Device Development and Regulatory Science, Young Scientists in Biomaterials, AI for Sustainable Development, and Cross-disciplinary Development in New Energy. These sub-forums focused on technological innovation, market applications, and the coordinated enhancement of the industrial chain in biomaterials, artificial intelligence, and new energy materials. A series of specialized reports and in-depth discussions were conducted, where global academic leaders and industry representatives shared their latest findings and project progress. The exchange of ideas sparked innovations, shedding light on the future path for foundational research, industrial applications, and the integration of intelligent technologies within the new materials industry.
