On the morning of March 2, a delegation led by Mohamad Shafry Mohamad Rahim, President of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Peking University. Members of the delegation also included Mohamed Nabil Mahamad, First Secretary of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, and Asnida Abdul Wahab, Director of the Data Analytics Center at the Office of Strategy and Global Excellence.The meeting and discussion session was chaired by Professor Zhou Huanping, Vice Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Participants from the school also included Zhao Xiaoxu, Assistant to the Dean, and Researcher Lü Shixian, among others.

Professor Zhou Huanping warmly welcomed President Mohamad Shafry and his delegation and briefly introduced the School of Materials Science and Engineering. She highlighted the school’s five major research directions and explained how these areas are being integrated with artificial intelligence. Researcher Zhao Xiaoxu provided an overview of the school’s history and introduced its achievements in talent cultivation, research teams, and international collaboration.

President Mohamad Shafry expressed his appreciation for the hospitality of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. He noted that following the inter-university Memorandum of Understanding signed in January, both sides look forward to signing a specific collaboration agreement to promote substantive research cooperation in the fields of materials science, medicine, and artificial intelligence. After the meeting, the delegation toured several laboratories of the school and learned in detail about the large-scale research facilities and instrumentationavailable at the institution.
