
On November 12, 2025, Clarivate Analytics, a global provider of professional information and analytics services, released the 2025 list of “Highly-Cited Researchers”. A total of 6,868 researchers from more than 1,300 institutions across 60 countries and regions worldwide were named to the list.
Mainland China ranked second globally with 1,406 selections, accounting for 20% of the total and marking an increase compared to the previous year. Among mainland Chinese universities, Peking University recorded 48 selections in total, of which 15 selections came from the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Scholars included in this prestigious list—spanning both the natural and social sciences—have authored multiple highly cited publications, with citation counts ranking in the top 1% worldwide for their fields, highlighting their significant academic influence among peers.
