On September 18, 2024 the Peking University Zhengzhou Advanced Research Institute of New Materials (hereinafter referred to as “the Institute”) successfully convened its first Management Committee meeting in Zhengzhou City. The meeting was attended by several leaders from provincial and municipal departments, including Zhang Jin, Vice President of Peking University; Hu Jun, Vice Mayor of Zhengzhou City; and Gao Zhigang, Director of the Talent Work Division of the Henan Provincial Organization Department.

Zhang Jin expressed gratitude for the support from Henan Province and Zhengzhou City. He emphasized that the institute should closely align with local industrial chain demands to promote the transformation of Peking University's scientific and technological achievements. He aims for the Institute to become a forefront for technological innovation in Henan Province and to jointly facialite high-quality development in the province while contributing toPeking University's “Double First-Class” initiative.

Hu Jun stated that Zhengzhou City will fully support the Institute's development, facilitating project implementation and transformation. He looks forward to the Institute becoming an important force in technological innovation for Zhengzhou, Henan Province, and even the nation, providing strong support for the region's high-quality economic development.

During the meeting, Zou Ruqiang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (PKU) and Director of the Institute, provided a comprehensive report on the progress of the Institute' preparatory progress andannual work plan. The leaders engaged in in-depth discussion regarding the Institute's interim achievements and future development plans.
