The 51st Sub-Forum of the 4th China Conference for the Development of the Advanced Materials Industry, titled “AI Empowering Advanced Materials Design and Intelligent Manufacturing”, was Successfully Held

The 4th China Conference for the Development of the Advanced Materials Industry and the 2nd China Conference for Investment in Advanced Materials, hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Materials Research Society, and the Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government, was grandly held at the Wenzhou Ouhai Olympic Sports Center from October 8thto October 10th, 2023. Fifty-one academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, along with over 6,000 experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and investors from across China, gathered in Oujiang to discuss the high-quality development of the advanced materials industry. Their focus was on exploring new paths and making breakthroughs for China to become a powerhouse of materials with rich resources.

The 51st Sub-Forum, “AI Empowering Advanced Materials Design and Intelligent Manufacturing”, jointly organized by Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Peking University, was held from October 9th to 10th.


Fueled by artificial intelligence, the advanced materials industry is experiencing unprecedented transformations, particularly in design, research, development, and manufacturing realms. Centered around the theme 'AI Empowering Advanced Materials Design and Intelligent Manufacturing', this sub-forum seeks to delve into how artificial intelligence can facilitate high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective development within the advanced materials industry. A multitude of experts and scholars participated in discussions and exchanges, focusing on the application of artificial intelligence in advanced materials design, intelligent manufacturing, and industrial innovation.

The Opening Ceremony


During the two-day event, experts, scholars, and representatives of entrepreneurs shared their research achievements and practical experiences in the fields of artificial intelligence and advanced materials through 9 keynote speeches, 14 invited presentations, and innovation achievement exhibitions. Additionally, the sub-forum showcased the latest technological advancements from both domestic and international sources, allowing participants to gain a more intuitive understanding of the development direction and technological frontier of the advanced materials industry.


The conference offered the participants an enriching insight into how artificial intelligence can transform the advanced materials industry, illuminating its potential for future growth and development. It served as a vital source of inspiration and guidance for fostering ongoing innovation within China’s advanced materials industry. Moreover, the event played a crucial role in enhancing collaboration and dialogue among different stakeholders, including those from industry, academia, and research circles, thereby injecting fresh momentum into the industry’s growth.Looking ahead, it is hoped that artificial intelligence will play an even greater role in advancing the goals of high quality, high efficiency, and low cost within the advanced materials industry.
